Leer la ciudad. Itinerarios, mapas y paisajes urbanos en la novela argentina de 1880

Abstract

This paper reconstructs the diverse city mappings drawn by some Argentine novels published during the 1880s following the routes, the locations and the connections established by some of their characters. Through this itinerary, the paper shows that this urban cartography is the result of a structure of feeling that legitimates class hegemony by means of reducing and simplifying the complexity of social relations within the modern city.
