Duelos: Sobre 'Hombre de la esquina rosada' e 'Historia de Rosendo Juárez', de Jorge Luis Borges y 'Gaucho pobre', de Enrique Amorim

Abstract
The thematic core and even the structure of Borges's first short story, finally entitled 'Hombre de la esquina rosada', were readopted by Uruguayan Enrique Amorim in 'Gaucho pobre'. Both writers dedicated their short stories to each other. First, this article explores the possibilities of a formal dialogue between the stories; it then approaches other levels -especially ideological issues and the problem of realism- where the authors converge and diverge. The possible effects of this dialogue on 'Historia de Rosendo Juárez', Borges's counterpoint to his original story, are also observed
