The verification of a recent change in the ways of reading Juan José Saer's works is the starting point in this article, towards a query on the topicality of his critical agenda. It will assume the form of a critical dialogue with Sandra Contreras's intervention on the issue, 'Saer en dos tiempos', which studies the publishing vicissitudes of the author's posthumous novel and its relation to the ethical stance long maintained by the writer in his works
